Connaught railway tunnel, Silvertown - April 2009

Visited here with urban junky,coleman and urban surgeon after checking out Spillers mill. We were in the area so it wouldve been rude not to go find this place.

"Silvertown station was a railway station in east london, formerly the penultimate station at the east end of the north london line.
The Last train passed through on December 9th 2006."

Yeah, the track is still intact through the length of the tunnel i think.

I love the fact all of the lights are still on, and the station serves no purpose. I remember this now, didnt realise what it was, but i do remember reading about some stations closing back in 2006.

I think some of them are the streetlights, but nevertheless, it is still cool. Silvertown high street is hiding behind that little wall, so its quite a random one. You have the high street, then a derelict railway right next to it :)

Great shots, theres something about abandoned railways & tunnels. Loving the lit up station, its as if it was just suddenly deserted.

I took a look at this place when I was in London, I was a bit alarmed how close it was to London City Airport but worked out ok. Silvertown seems unusually under-developed especially as Millenium Mills lies derelict too.
