Plans to demonish (http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/3809879.Plans_to_transform_eyesore_squat_hotel) seem underway but it still stands at the moment. Squatters are still about as well.

Right, just been down there for a good nose around. Just as a bit of further information for anyone thinking about doing it, the site consists of 2 4-story buildings on an approximately north-south axis, connected by a single story corridor at ground floor level. Both buildings look like they are completely and utterly ruined, with graffiti on outside walls, smashed windows, etc. etc. Looks like you'd get hepatitis just looking at the place.
It would appear that demolition is indeed not far away - there's a nice big digger with "South Coast Demolition" on it in the old (southern) carpark and, judging by the tracks in the grass at the front of the hotel, it has been moving about (presumably to check it can access different positions on the site).
All the major entrances are boarded up as you would expect but access is so easy my grandmother could get in. I won't go into details on here obviously but, suffice to say, it's not exactly secure.
The only thing that surprised me slightly is that it would appear that there is some sort of alarm system installed. Approximately once a minute, there is a distinctly "alarm-sounding" bleep coming from the northern building. I'm sure there can't be any proximity sensors in there, since all the windows are open and, unless they've taken out all the doors, I would imagine that the thing would be going off every 5 minutes with the wind blowing through.
Also worth noting is that the bar in the hotel across the road looks directly across on to the front of this place and I was getting some pretty suspicious glares as I walked around. This might be an early morning one I think before the punters across the road start on their gin and tonics.
If anyone fancies joining me on this one, I'm going to do it very soon before it's gone forever. Never seen any reports which is a bit weird given its central location and the fact that it's been empty for a while now but, having said that, I'm not sure it'll be the best explore in the world. Still, it's Bournemouth and my home town so I've got to do it.
My apologies, I did take a load of pictures but it would appear that I have left my card reader up in Cannock, which is not the most intelligent thing in the world. Take care everyone and feel free to give me a shout if you fancy this one.

Took a short walk in there with another member and even after seeing 2 junkies walking there dog inside the compound, we entered the first room on the left where we were instantly greeted by blood stained walls, needles and a message written in blood telling us to leave or die, we scampered. I am also from Bournemouth drop me a private message anytime!

Do you realise how old this thread is? I'm pretty sure this place is long gone.

Looking at Google earth, it's still there and the google pics are from 2011 so it could well still be there.

Yes, the place is still standing, and it is disgusting.. Problem is, the site is SO huge that cost MUST be a factor in it's demolition. An ENTIRE block of derelict buildings and it's RIGHT in front of a flourishing hotel.. It's a real shame.. looking at the palm trees and stuff, it must have looked nice back in the day.
I'm all for exploration and preservation, but this place is 200% DANGEROUS and a real eyesore. There is nothing left of it and it should be avoided at ALL costs.. I don't want to see a fellow forum member make the front page of the Daily Echo.

I think on a dangerous scale this falls between a garden shed and a trip to McD's :p:

Sounds lovely! Just the kind of people you find in bournemouth! Up for going???
I must have gone around this place end of Jan and it is pretty wrecked. There are homeless people occupying at least one of the buildings. I circled one and from the front, the walls have been knocked down. As I re-appeared round the back some guy was going out of where I came in. Best left this one.

I was passing this the other day and decided to stop for a look and I totally agree with cosmetic_chicken. The place is an absolute shit pit and dangerous as hell. I only peeked inside. There's absolutely nothing of any interest, it's nothing more than an aids ridden crack den and I could hear the junkies inside and decided to GTFO!

But there is a huge 5* hotel complex near Ferndown that has been empty for years. Locals will know.
