I was surprised that nobody had posted pictures of this place, it's soooo damp and eery.
Maybe I should put this thread straight in the epic fail bin, but here goes!

Why would that go in the bin? (that could be the kiss of death!) not the biggest explore but you've got some nice shots in there

At the really badly artificial lit end (yellowy pictures) is a lift that goes up to the hotel, it was installed so that the victorian ladies could get on to the beach without scaling the cliff steps, I'm going back in 2 weeks, hoping to get some more shots from that end. If I'd known this site was here I'd have explored further. :thumb

Is this one of the ones off of the harbour. Theres a few interesting tunnels there that go off into the rockface, But im not sure if they go right far back or there just shed sized.

So is this open to the public and still in use by the hotel? Very nice pics there.

i have been in there, not much to see at all. and i have only ever seen it unlocked once. it tends to be chained and locked a fair bit from what i have seen, for some reason.

I was talking to a couple there on the day and they told me that it's still in use, but that's not 100% reliable.
It's not at the harbour it's about 2 bays east, if memory serves, from Towan beach (the one with the house on the island).
I didn't know they usually chained it up, I was really lucky to get these shots then eh!?
There was a stinking rotten dead seagull right by the entrance too, bleurgh!

The only reference to the tunnel and lift was on a travel site....
"The hotel's lift transports guests between the cliff top and the sandy beach below."
No mention of it on the Victoria Hotel site at all....very odd!

yeah, i have seen it chained up a few times, the time that i went in there, another family group went in for a look too and they tried the lift button but it did nothing at all, no noise or anything.
