Hi all. I visited the 950 yards in length Kelvingrove Tunnel on Wednesday 17th June 09. The tunnel was part of the Glasgow Central Railway (Caledonian Railway) and ran between Stobcross (Finnieston / Exhibition Centre) - Kelvinbridge. The tunnel opened in 1896 and closed in 1964 as part of the 'Beeching - Axe'. I plan on revisiting the tunnel this saturday with a group of friends for more photographs. Full information as well as 28 photographs can be found here (28 Photographs attached below):

Inside Stobcross Depot Tunnel Includes Photographs Of The Oxidation and Cable Supports Still In Tact. A thing to notice / look out for is the height level of the concrete inside the tunnel (the tunnel is partly filled in. You can notice this by looking at the photograph showing the very small (not showing the whole) of the P - Way protection shaft).

Nice, you seem to be going through all of the tunnels under Glasgow! There were a quite a few we never did due to massive groups of neds in them.

I found an old geographical map of the tunnel and overlayed it on a new map but I can't find it now.

There's a couple of culverts as well, like the Molendinar over near the cathedral, but they really aren't worth it (in my opinion).

Aren't worth what? The Molendinar is wonderful :)

Glasgow has some pretty big CSOs as well...

There's always been the rumours of the telecomms tunnels as well, starting near the Royal Infirmary and running down to the west end. There's a supposed entrance by the House of Fraser car park. The hidden glasgow forums had loads of threads about them, but no one ever confirmed anything

The Royal Infirmary has got some nice tunnels, I think TurboZutek or Dazzababes posted a report about them. You can just go in and walk about, I never had the guts to start taking pictures.

Hi all. Thank you very much for your feedback, much appreciated. Good to see it is worth posting the photographs up. I am keen on going around all the disused railways tunnels within Glasgow that are still accessable to the present day. There is many more I have yet to walk / photograph and I will get around them all in time. No signs of telecom pipes or anything like that in Kelvingrove Tunnel just the original cable pipes which date back to the 1940s or possibly 50s my co - explorationist told me. It is worth going here. Part 2 of the photographs from inside the tunnel will be posted tomorrow at some point when I have time. Yes, I revisited the tunnel again today, though this time in a group of 4 instead of 2. Once again a very interesting visit:P

Visiting these places is wonderful, to think the effort that went into making them and how they stand long after being needed. I visited a lovely big curved tunnel near Perth last year, your photos remind me!
