Decided this evening to have a trip to Haslingden to look for some culverts.

The map said that there was 2 on Swinnel Brook.

I found Number 1 culvert not long after wading upriver.

This one was around 196Metres long

A mixture of designs (stone arch and stone with concrete roof).

I've named this first culvert "Twistier Blunders" :)

Around 50Metres upstream was another Culvert.

This took the Brook under St Crispin Way.

This Culvert was around 228Metres long.

A lovely stone arch section, then a straight backbreaking concrete part.

I ended up in a locked yard of a chemical place, so had to go back through to get out of the Brook :D

if this is to be named, i'll call it "Crispy Twains".

Thanks Maaaan :)

i didn't know what time i'd get home, so went to the shop before going underground.

i carted fucking eggs, milk, bread, microwave burgers (FTW), teabags and a bottle of plonk through them.

All the eggs survived :D :thumb

Microwave burgers...the sign of a proper modern man!

Great report, loved the pictures, these culvert things seem like really cool places!

Thanks Both :)

the burgers tasted just as good after their little trip :D

i was going to get some people shots on the way back Yaz, but the cam battery died :(
(had to go through both again as there was high walls and some triple prong fence between the 2 and second was in the locked yard).

i think i've spotted a third culvert, so will have to go back sometime soon.

i can grab a few pics with me in these too :thumb

Thanks Bug :)

thought it might've been a no go when i saw the size of the brook before the culvert.
maybe this is going to be tiny and only ok for a rat or a dwarf i thought :D

it was a nice suprise when i saw it.

Nice. Hope you brought a microwave to do your burgers with.

Very nice culvert there, lots of turns and uneven to make it interesting. The later concrete section is characterless in comparison.
