Corel are giving away free copies of Paint Shop Pro X (to Lexar customers but it works for anyone). I thought this would be useful to those of you who can't afford Photoshop/PSPX2 or don't like hacking software :)

cool, anyone after free graphics tools, 'google picasa' is good for basic fixes and 'gimp' is good for most editing stuff (but doesnt handle raw).

'gimp' is good for most editing stuff (but doesnt handle raw).

It does with this (http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/) handy plugin.

Thanks for this. Could it spell the end of my decade long struggle with thirty-day free trials?

Just thought you might like this.

The only caveat with the free download is that you might see a nag screen when you exit the program. To get rid of the nag screen,

Step-1:

After installing the program open the following file in Notepad,

C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro X\PCUUI\Container.htm

Step-2:

Select all (Ctrl A key) and delete the entire text.

Step-3:

Insert the following text,

<script type="text/javascript">
location="pcucmd://Cancel?confirm=no";
</script>

Step-4:

Save and close the file.

After that you won’t see the nag screen and it will function as the full version.

Even better than a free version of PSPX is a free version of PSPX2 Standard. I've just stumbled across TrialPay, you sign up for a free trial of something (I signed up for the eMusic 7-day trial) and you get PSPX2 free.

You do need a credit card to sign up for the free trial at eMusic but you can cancel at any time, which I did about 30 seconds after signing up :)

Hope that helps someone.

Damn! just had a look and they've changed the offer to Core Photo Album Deluxe 7.

Keep refreshing the page (a proper refresh using CTRL+F5, not the sissy refresh button type of refresh) and you will get different products each time. It will come back to PSPX2!
