Hello,

I know this has been done many times before, and everything previously seen, but this was my second trip around Severalls and I haven't done a report on here before. So here goes. Over 2/3 posts as there are about 25 photos. Not really 56K friendly unfortunately :(

Many thanks to Surlygirl for her help during the week! :thumb

We started off having a look around the perimeter and finally found the chapel. Definately no way in there. Had a good look around all of the windows/doors. Did manage to sneak a peek through a broken grill though. Very "Churchy" smell coming from inside.

Made our way to the access point, and found ourselves in Mirbeck and Durmast ward. I had been looking for this one for a while - the cell with the mirror. On the floor in this cell there were a couple of pools of red liquid, a stained rag and a shard of glass that was also stained. My Father reliably informed me that it wasn't blood. Guess he would know, he's seen enough in his life time.

Part way up the stairs we came across this on the floor.

Bog!

We heard some voices inside Mirbeck and Durmast so ran out and across the grass straight into the main building. The sign pointed to Occupational Therapy and Mistley. We found the entrance to the tunnels under some stairs. We didn't take the tunnels.

We found Mistley Ward.

Not sure why I took this, but I did.

We spotted the people who were also in Mirbeck and Durmast.

Here, have a floor shot...

Upstairs, and out of a window next to some cells which had some whack carpeting! I was fascinated by the formation of the corridors.

We made our way into the Nurses Accommodation, and up a fire escape. Part way up, the weather started to look a little menacing.

We finally found the shop with the boarded up doors to the Main Hall just down the corridor from it. Good thing this didn't work anymore ;)

Paper work on a window sill, just before going upstairs.

This was upstairs in the ward looking over where the Main Hall used to be.

View out over the destroyed main hall. Really quite sad to look at :(

My Father walking away.

We stopped for a while and sat in the shelter outside next to the former Main Hall to have some lunch. While there, I noticed some people in the corridor in front of us. We went in, and got talking to them.

I asked if they used 28DL, their answer was no. But they did give us some very helpful instructions on getting into the Water Tower. Without that, I don't think we would have worked it out :thumb

We were now in the Laundry area, so we had a quick look around, noticed that jacket thing hanging from the ceiling, and long with some Christmas Decorations and artificial flowers. This lift was also there.

We went downstairs, this was on the floor.

These rather "charming" elephants were also downstairs.

This was in a corridor, while we were looking around for a way to get to the Water Tower.

I wish all of the signs were as helpful...

We found a way out, very close to the Water Tower, and had a peek in a shed. One room had a sink, table, couple of chairs, and lots of mugs. I came across this folder full of instructions.

I believe this is in the boiler house.
http://www.borrowed-heaven.net/Pictures/severalls/severalls021.JPG

After all of the pictures I had seen of the boiler room, including recent ones where they had been stripped, I was hoping something might be left. But there was nothing. This made me very sad :(

We go into, and climbed the water tower. Very proud of myself for having done so. After running around for 4 hours I didn't think I would be able to (very unfit!), but we got up there. Just a word of warning, there is a step missing near the top, and I whacked my leg rather badly on the small remaining part. Here's a view from the top:

Signs pointing to Car Park 1, and the Main Hall. Err...not any more ladies and gentlemen.

And a final view before going.

These and more will be appearing both on my Flickr photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/oinster/) and also a crap page I have put up (http://www.borrowed-heaven.net/ue/)

If anyone wants a .zip file with a Panorama taken from the top of the Water Tower (only the view from one side), then let me know. It's a bit big to put on here.

Thanks Muchly for reading :D
