Before I start, weve never done a crane before. And I have a broken wrist :gay
Me and Karl decided to head of to St Helens Hospital where thier are 2 cranes. Entrance was fairly easy, but sercurity was present, so we headed for the smaller crane (about 70 ft) first which was closer to the entrance, the place is a building site, so had to run over a load of wet concete and stuff to get thier :( But, when we got to the bottom of the crane, the door was non exsistant on the wooden panel, so straight up we went, couple of pauses while climbing because thier was quite abit of activity below because the hospital is in use less than 20 meters away. But we got to the top and had a good mooch about in the cabin and along the arm to the concrete. As we where playing about in the cabin, the sercurity walked right underneath the active road below us, quite a momment!
We then got down and went to recce the other crane, this one alot taller, more than twice the height (I'd say about 150ft) and again, the door was not thier... but this time, we didnt play around, and found ourselves on top of it within 5 minutes, got a few photos, had a wonder down to the concrete, where the slighest of movement would actually move the concrete up and down! quite scary! didnt help with Karl jumping up and down! Done the usual stuff and headed down, 2 storys from the bottom, Karl spotted sercurity opening one of the main gates, we legged it to the other end of the site and got out some over some nasty railings, Karl being able to show off a nice scar in the future!
Good first experience for a crane! never thought i'd do the big crane, but... :p
