open adits on caradon hill ?

Hi all went off exploring at the weekend and found 2 adits minions side of Caradon hill, no wellys and being a newbie to underground exploration only ventured in a few feet but both looked promising i think they lead to wheal jenkin mine anyone been in that mine thought id ask before exploring further with some gear cheers kev.

if its the one im thinking of its blocked about 200yrds in after a small waterfall, could continue with digging.
Only way to tell if go take a look, i think theres a lot of stuff in that area worth looking at....

Reading through Hamilton Jenkins there doesn't seem to be much on caradon hill worth looking into. The adits there either don't go far and the workings are mostly open works. I did hear that something new opened up there a few weeks back.

If you're looking for a tunnel in that area, try old gunnislake. Short trip but some nice formations.

thanks all for response did a bit more research through reading caradon mine survey and the bottom adit seems to go in a couple of hundred yards and is blocked by a fall although i have found a tiny opening further up hill went in and had a look and it opens up to a fair size tunnel heading towards engine house just wondered if thats been explored cheers kev.

Caradon and Phoenix had their adits and shaft mouths dynamited when working finished, hence there is little to be got into. They are also not diggable without massive implements due to the hugeness of the boulders.

The easiest thing in the area requires a 80m abseil, which keeps most people out. All the rock is also shocking. (rotten granite)

Thanks again for response found more open adits nr St Neot and other side of caradon hill some mentioned on here in the past others not.
Did a quick explore of one at St neot and stopped for a moment we could hear cars pass overhead ! got worried and left !will try and post photos
