High Royds Hospital (Menston Asylum)

Welcome to High Royds folks!! My how we have longed to see in here. Conversion has begun on the annex but the main body remains intact. Rows of cells with original doors and ornate corridors are the order of the place. The corridors got more and more lavish as I got closer to Admin, with ornate tiled walls and plaster ceilings. Stumbled across the hall which at first I thought was locked. But there was one open door and I was amazed at what stood before me! A fantastic main hall, with 4 grand wooden fireplaces on it's walls. Backdrops still hanging behind the stage, and an amazing plaster roof, almost completley original!!

Admin was amazing, no other way to describe it!! It was literally jaw dropping! Tiled walls, stained glass and mosaic floors. War memorial still in situ, and the ceiling in the superintendant's office was like that of a statley home!! This is the most lavish asylum I have ever seen and it remains in superb condition

No clock access was the only downfall... it's locked tight!
