On the outskirts of Bolton lurks this filthy yet beautifully constructed culvert. With numberous construction styles, shapes and sizes along its length, it is certainly interesting.
Unfortunately, the water is highly polluted as a sewer overflow upstream is constantly pouring its shite into the flow.
The quantity of jam rags caught on debris and a random ladder lying on the floor of the drain is simply despicable! However, the outfall is quite picturesque.

Cracking stuff there reverend! Skillz..

Try contacting the environment agency about the continuous overflow, I've done it twice in brizzle and got results both times.. The local waterboard are obliged to rectify jam rag spillage!

We had a wander into a section of this last year, was grim, and without the 4 gas soon retreated.

Nice work, now I have a 4 gas I could be tempted to go back.

Excellent stuff as usual :)

Good idea, I think I will give them a call about this one, its nasty.

The outfall and the rest of the drain for that matter is covered in that orange slippy minging slime!

I'd heard about petrol fumes in there last year, but couldn't smell anything like that on this visit.
TBH I've not got a gas meter, but there weren't any gasses that I could smell down there - just the stale smell of cso/landfill seepage!

Pity about the sewerage but wouldn't mind a peek about there sometime being a fellow Boltonian. :)

An interesting looking culvert, excellent images as well showing the diversity of the masonry inside. Thanks
