In Exeter .. and about time too :)
The Quay Climbing Centre (http://www.quayclimbingcentre.co.uk/) is going to be built in the old electricity generating station, first explored by Collingwood. Hopefully open at the end of August.
It's a lovely building, ideal for this kind of conversion, especially since there would be no reason to remove the wall tiles?

Yes maybe turn it into a totally committing footless traverse above a splash down pool.

Its nice to see old buildings being put into use again shame we haven't got anything down here like that.

That is a really nice building. Are they going to put up independent bouldering panels in front of the glazed tiles?

Awesome. I often take trips near Exeter and I've got some friends who always try and get me into climbing. This would be good for bad weather days! Good to see the building saved too.

Almost all modern climbing walls use a prefabricated steel framework that would be largely independent of the building walls. There wouldn't be any need to touch the tiles.

Good for them.
I've used the new (Ish) Dartrock one that way a couple of times, not a bad wall - but not such a grand old building.

Looks nice that one.
The one in Nottingham recently moved into an old pool - they've left the tiles well alone in there and it's a lovely looking place.

That looks pretty sweet, hopefully the building wont be touched and the architecture will be left on show as much as possible. Theres a nice 6a/b route at Undercover Rock that you must 'use the church' to gain the next section :D
