After my brother died I thought of getting some sort of plaque on the Temenos, seeing as it was his last exploration before he died, Its took me over a year to battle for this and the council gave me a great fight back.

I started trying to get in touch with the person who created the Temenos (Anish Kapoor) after sending more than 10 emails to him and receiving no reply i had to change tactics, I then got in touch with the council, they rang me back and straight away they where saying it would be impossible for me to achieve this, but i didn't take no for an answer and asked for a meeting with them.

Before the meeting I got all his friends to write me letters so I was able to take them to it, I gave the 2 guys at the meeting all the letters and explaining how comforting it would be for me, family and friends, but they where so negative explaining that it would only encourage other explorers to climb the sculpture

They then said they would be in touch with me after speaking to there bosses, 3 days later I received a letter explaining that it was a no no

Hmmm I was running out of idea's so my last hope was to directly get in touch with the Middlesbrough Mayor (Ray Mallon) finally I was receiving progress as he visited my house, he was such a nice guy to be honest, he said he would get this done for us, Great stuff!

I must ask all of you, if you would please not climb the Temenos, as they would only say we told you so, and possibly remove the bench, also its Solomon's last explore and as far as I know he is the only exploring to have climbed it.

This is the only place we where able to get, because Anish Kapoor wont allow anything being put in the grounds of the Temenos as he feels it would destroy his art work (gimp!) the Sub Station is set to be taken down given us a better view of it.

If it gets trashed it would be a shame, and I'd be one of the first to call them c*nts

But Horus, you know as well as we do that it could happen, and if it does then accept that it is just part of the life cycle of things, just as Jim celebrated the creation, existence and eventual demise of the places he went.

That being said - hope its there for a long time.

Yeah I agree styru, I would be very upset if it ever happened but I also accept that there is c*nts out there, good thing is thought its at a part away from the town and right out of the way kids go drinking, so I'm hoping it stays intact.

I'm not impressed with Anish Kapoor though - he's lost a few customers here
