Built of concrete in 1936 for Southern Railways when the railway out of Waterloo was electrified, this building
houses an art deco control room that was still operational until the late 1990s!
The controller at a desk in the centre of the room gets an elegant visual overview of the state of the system.
Silver track diagrams with coloured lights representing the switches. Tracks run horizontally, power vertically.
