Raf Honiley was operational 1941-1958, a base for nightfighter squadrons during the war then various training and signals units until its closure. When it was acquired by lucas varsity it was used as an automotive test area by the likes of prodrive and TRW (Lucas Aerospace)

Finding a cluster if buildings in one corner of the airfield on flashearth some time ago we finally got around to actually to checking it out. It would appear they were used as test labs for lucas aerospace. One test lab having once housed a wind tunnel, which was unfortunately now removed:(
