Stephenson were listed in Kelly's directory as drysalters. It was hard to tell exactly what they were making, although we did find paperwork to suggest they were making wool dye (which would make sense in Bradford, the wool capital of Britain) and chemicals for soap manufacture.
The building has been partially stripped for conversion, but the basement and attic were really great. In the roof space a series of line shafts were still in situ, some with wooden wheels! These must be very very old and I have never seen wooden wheels in situ before.
