I've tried to find information as to what this site's use was, there is not much out there unfortunately. All signs/structures etc around the site indicate that it was an Effluent Treatment plant......

domestic waste water treatment, is the process of removing contaminants from waste water and household sewage, both effluents and domestic. It includes physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove contaminants. Its objective is to produce an environmentally-safe treated effluent and a solid waste suitable for disposal or re-use.

The site is located in the same area as the old Capper Pass and Son refinery. Capper Pass and Son - Wikipedia

It may or may not have originally been part of this refinery.

Unfortunately most surface buildings have been either wrecked or demolished but it was a fun mooch about and there is a decent silo to climb for some overcast and miserable views of the Humber :p
