I remember reading something about this, but completely forgot about it. Last night me and squeezethatgap were on our way to look at a crane in seaforth (security office looking over it :(), we could see a big boarded up building so we went to inspect, turns out it was johnsons. After a bit of looking around the building, and pointless climbs, we found some access. Spent around 5 hours here!

The building is stripped of near enough everything, the only things that remain really are a safe, a boiler, lift motors etc. Regardless of that, it's definately worth a visit, the views from the rooftop are really nice and the character of the building still exists in parts. On some floors the flooring is wooden, but on others it has been pulled up, and there are nails sticking up everywhere, so be careful if anyone pays a visit.

History
This was the HQ of Johnson's Dyers and Cleaners in Mildmay Road off Stanley Road in Bootle. The origins of the drycleaning business go back to 1817 when Johnson Brothers started in business in Liverpool as silk dyers. In 1920, Johnson Brothers joined forces with two drycleaning companies, Jas Smith & Son and Flinn & Son Ltd of Brighton and "Johnson's the Cleaners" was born. The firm, which is now the country’s biggest dry-cleaning operation, left its Bootle HQ for new premises in Prescot. Plans have been approved for the conversion of the building to 82 apartments with retail premises on the ground floor.
