First off all, the reason i have not put the location is because of vast amounts of lead on the roof that will disappear if posted, any members wanting the location please PM me.

Secondly, apologies for the bad photos, we were out walking the dog and found this place by chance, no camera with us, just the trusty iphone.

Brief history.

This is the water works building for the reservoir directly above, the reservoir was built in 1938 and the works building completed in 1939.

The works was built using the stone from a nearby grand hall which was built in the mid-1800s (demolished during the building of the reservoir).

Once inside the center of the building there are two main halls, one to the left and one to the right.

The hall to the left is still used for storage by United Utilities.

The place even had an old test laboratory, complete with gas masks!

To the basement, image quality is rubbish because of the lack of light.

There was plenty to see in here, lots or machinery and equipment that didn't come out on the photos from the basement, there was storage cages full of things and lots of chemicals.

PM me if you want location.

Thanks for looking.

Nice pics and report.

Just a word of warning though, old style gas masks like that sometimes have the tube made from asbestos fibre or lined with it.

I would not let it worry you fella as its stripped anyway and on the grand scale of it you wont make a difference it will get striped sooner or latter one way or another.

Nice report.

I don't understand why you even mentioned the lead on the roof if you're so keen to protect it?? Surely saying there are vast amounts of it on the roof puts the site more at risk than not telling people the name does?

Exactly my point as well as if you looked at that thread even with a title nobody would assume anything is left as you can see the outer cables in the pic so someone has been stripping ...........

But with the info the op has given they now know it has lead and is easy to find.
