NGTE Pyestock needs little introduction; it's relative simplicity, size and for the most part lack of pikeys has made it a favourite early explore for many.

A fellow explorer gives the history on his website "Pyestock, the former National Gas Turbine Establishment, located in Farnborough, UK. Conceived in the build up to World War Two, and realised in the post-war paranoia of the opening virtual salvos of the cold war, Pyestock was one of a number of top-secret sites which would bolster the UK’s standing during the austere 1950s; and become a vital component of the White Heat of Technology in the twitchy 1960s...By the turn of the new millennium, the world had changed. The theory behind the technology was well understood and tests could be simulated on computer rather than physically run in power-hungry, resource-sapping testing cells. Personnel gradually moved to new facilities and Pyestock slowly emptied and eventually stood down."

I found these photos when I was going through one of my memory cards in preparation for another explore, it was a while ago now so I can't remember the exact details of the trip.

I've been to Pyestock a few times now and these photos come from my most recent trip. While driving by of an evening my 'local guide' and I noticed that they were in the process of repairing and replacing the fence. We decided the opportunity was too good to miss so parked up nearby and hot-tailed it down.

Our first point of call was our usual entry route which had already been blocked up so we wandered back to the path that skirts the fence where we had a close brush with the contractors (for close read they appeared from round the corner and started examining the fence the other side of the fern from us) So we continued around the perimeter until we found a section of fence we could slip through.

As it was getting dark and we had no torches we only had time for Cells 3 & 4 and the computer house.

Most of these are shot in sepia because my dodgy old camera was doing funky things with the colours that day (and because I'm lazy)

In no particular order:
