As part of Open House London Weekend, Dollis Hill Bunker (codename: Paddock) was opened up last month and a tour given by Nick Catford of SubBrit. I didn’t really get as much out of this as I was hoping considering it was a tour and we were “shown around” and given health and safety briefings etc. Takes much of the excitement out of it, doncha think? :p:
Still though, a fascinating place.

Have some history:
“Paddock was built at the start of the 2nd World War below the Post Office Research Station in Dollis Hill. The purpose of the two level citadel was to act as a standby to the Cabinet War Rooms in Whitehall. The bunker became operational in 1940 with the War Cabinet meeting there on 3rd October.
Churchill did not like the new bunker and by the autumn of 1943 the standby cabinet war rooms were relocated to the North Rotunda in Marsham Street, close to Whitehall; Paddock was abandoned the following year.”

This used to be the old BBC television studio apparently, in case they needed to make those all-important war broadcasts.

Apparently the bunker was named after The Paddock Fields (which this nearby road name is a reminder of), as opposed to the road being named after the bunker.
