Visited July 2014 on my own
Overlooking Winchelsea Beach at Pett Level is an Emergency Coast Battery built in 1940.
I can't find out much about it but a search found that it originally housed two 6" guns, the remains of one is still there but the other appears to have been made into a house.
The observation tower is on two levels, access can be gained to the top level if you have a handy ladder.

I am hoping Mr Ordnace can let us know what this was for.
And this, maybe a mounting point for a Bofors?
It is around 4 foot square with a circular bolt arrangement.
Oh, and look out for the secca sheep
