Another one pulled off the to-do list prematurely after hearing that the building had fallen victim to "spontaneous combustion" or so we are lead to believe, i decided the time had come to cross this one off the list before it was totaly Foook'd. Visited and photographed with fellow 28dl member Zombiefart.

The Explore

Usual drill....... up-early, in car on route to site, few wrong turns and a couple google maps later we had reached St.Crispins in all its glory. After a bit of searching we located our entry and made it fairly easily into the grounds moving into the first available building, mostly relaxed explore except the occasional bang and the confused looking builder as we exited the site.

A Brief History

Northampton County Lunatic Asylum, otherwise known as Berrywood, and later called St. Crispin Hospital. It was opened on 30 June 1876 as the pauper
lunatic asylum for Northamptonshire with 61 male and 54 female patients. It was located in the parish of
Upton and to the west of the larger village of Duston. The Asylum was three miles west of Northampton.

Your 12th picture shows some scaffolding which is surrounding what's left of the hall. At the very back there's two projectors to see. The latest fire didn't go anywhere near the hall or the clock tower, just that far wing.

anyone visiting beware of the underground tunnel network, when you get to the end, theres a boiler room, were the floor genuinely looks like concrete....it is in fact 5ft of murky water. so be careful. There are holes i the floor all over the place too, but a very interesting place
