Default Craig Dunain Hospital (Boiler House & Engineering)- 28/03/2007

This site has been well covered before, but Lost and I took another visit. It was my first visit there. I have titled this as Boiler House and Engineering because that's where the bulk of the photos are from. Access was easy, no clambering through mucky tunnels - a lot of stripping has been going on (I wish I'd taken some external pics now). We climbed up to the top of one of the water towers and took some photos, and had to duck down at one point as security were mobile down below and we would have been easily seen against the very orange clouds. Other than that I didn't take many more photos of the main building other than one of the inside of the tower, some christmas decorations, a fire panel and inside the "rapunzel" tower (which isn't climbable, the hatch looking up into it is in a cupboard).

The rest of the photos are from the Boiler House and Engineering Department which was far far more interesting than the main building is now. We thought access was going to require going on the roof and in a velux, but we found an easier way in thankfully. There is absolutely TONS of stuff to look at here, it's not trashed as I don't think (m)any chavs have not been in (it is messy though), and best of all... The power is still on! (we even found the main power switches (or should I say massive big wheels) for the main building but didn't think it was wise turning these on due to the fact that a lot of stuff has probably shorted due to being ripped out - security wouldn't have been impressed with the place lighting up like a christmas tree either). We spent hours in here and I took lots of photos, mainly just flash snaps. Might be worth going back for some proper pictures another time. The trouble is there is just too much stuff!

There's a dentist chair in there which we plugged it in and it worked! There's a video of it in action at the end of the gallery on page 3.

Excuse the crapness of some of the pics, it's due to handheld high ISO shots.

Anyway, it was a great visit and it was also great to meet Lost for the first time! Cheers for showing me around
