St Johns Asylum, Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln - 21 FEB 09
Security - laughable Access - laughable also ! I must agree with Smurfinator - there is a strange feel about this place, definately foreboding, as if you are never alone! Work on converting this beautiful complex into flats is evident, and for an abandoned hospital with very few intact windows it was surprisingly clean in the most part. there is enough history of this place in other threads, so on with the pics Dayroom  plaster fall  brown is the colour  60's feel funky ceiling - its all over the place  lots of windows, few intact  lots of single rooms 'cells' and all different colours - note the old spy hole in the frame  Admin block and watertower - i kept getting the feel of 'roman villa' with the architecture  very apt comment for a mental institution  lets look through... ... the broken window!  store room, stripped  shower  shower and bath - how lovely  lots of similar corridors, with lots of similr doors  ginger puss  central core (rear admin) work in progress  its crying out to me  sorry Rooks, only clothing in the whole building  tidy !  an intact toilet, very unusual  hang-time  end of page 1 of 2

a - peeling  inside the square towers  an original gas mantle - wow  simial doors, similar corridors  the orange toilet  funky brown willow pattern wallpaper  one of the v few damaged parts to the building - roof to ground  alcove  three out of four aint bad  screaming to be climbed  the main hall  typical psychiatric hospital - covered walkways  walkway - detail of ironwork  a door here please.  pippins nursery  pippins corridor  countryside scene  light beams  simply 'B'  Keep Out! yeah right  reflective panel  and a good day was had by all.

 up in the towers  an original gas mantle !  more corridors, more doors  the orange toilet  this place was full of funky wallpaper  the only rotten part of the building - weather damage to roof - and no flooring til you land in the basement  3 out of 4 toilets . . .  the tower!  the main hall - squeeky floors and all  covered walk way supporting ironwork  detail of ironwork  invite to the nursery  work in progress  scarey woodland view  light beams  simply 'B'  reflected in the control panel
