Default Crookes Valley Methodist Church, Sheffield (April '09)

So, my first report! There's an abandoned church in Sheffield that was the site of a rave a year ago and we decided to have a looksee now that the dust has settled. Entry was pretty trivial, a tight squeeze but nothing major. The innards of the church were spectacular: I found a report from two years ago (example pics here - http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...7/IMG_1862.jpg and http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...7/IMG_1856.jpg) and wow has the place changed! The local artists really went to work on this place...

Just as we were joking about how cool it would be to find a piano...

I could get pretty cosy here...

Enjoy

Sweet. Did the £5 come in handy-dandy note form, or were you rooting around for pennies?

Great report and pictures, thanks.

Someone's been building in here...

Was it used as a training centre for a while.

Love the pics of the piano, brilliant find that was, did it still play?!

Shame about the graffiti, I like it in some places if it's good but definatly not in churches!

Most probably. Loads of churches in Sheffield are now community centres and stuff.

It did still play. A little bit out of tune though, and the sustain pedal was perpetually depressed, so every note you played rang out forever, making everything that little bit more spooky...

Great set... I actually think the tagging looks good especially the vibrance of the colours
And a musician? I guess some people have no end to their talents
