Theatre Royal, Chatham - 12/10/07

Along with Mushcan, dragon2309 and Paul (yeah, just Paul) we got into the abandoned Theatre Royal on Chatham High Street. Once inside, we found ourselves at the main standing area in front of the area in front of the stage. A small walk forward and we found ourselves right in front of the stage underneath the huge and magnificent dome. Looking at the balconies, the decoration remains pretty well although parts of wall are actually missing nowhere to be found. Up the stairs, we found plenty of bathrooms and a few small storage rooms full of what looked like random props. On the way up, we encountered a large room that looked out over the High Street but we didn't walk into it because of the risk of being seen from the flats opposite and the risk of waking the hundreds of pigeons that decided to sleep there. Continuing up the stairs, we found the top balcony which was covered with smashed glass from broken lightbulbs. On the other side was another few bathrooms and a room leading to the bits of seating that stick out on either side of the stage. Walking back to the bottom of the stairs, we found the main foyer for the theatre. It looked oddly undisturbed with newspapers still being attached to the wall, a stand full of leaflets about Medway, a donations box and a TV which would be showing a video about the place. Walking further down the stairs, we found the cellar and several rooms containing what looked like parts of a large furnace. Having taken loads of photos, we went back up the stairs and headed for the exit.

Ha ha ha nice to see the blurry pic of me made it!, was good night out wasnt sure if some one else was in there with us at 1st as we heard a number of bangs and people talking.
