    History:
Was a Childrens / Midwifery hospital. Opened on July 1st 1917 during the war under the leadership of Prof. Sigfrid Hammerschla until 1933 when he was forced to retire because he was Jewish and well, we all know how the Nazi's felt about that. Prof Benno Ottow who took over the next day promised "reorganisation and restructure under National Socialism without compromise" and lead the hospital until 1945 at which point he upped and escaped to Stockholm.
The hospital was severley damaged during the war but was rebuilt and expanded over the following years becoming the largest hospital of it's type in Germany.
Sadly I can't find information on when the hospital closed, mainly because I don't speak German and there isn't a whole ton of information.

Visited with a non-member whilst travelling across Europe. We discovered this hospital was 10 minutes from our Hostel and couldn't resist. For starters, this is the busiest derelict building I've ever been in. It's absolutely crawling with homeless people. graffiti artists, explorers and oddly, people just out for a walk. We quickly learned that a bungee cord on a door handle meant that the room was taken by a homeless person! We didn't have any bother from anyone at all and everyone was quite friendly. We didn't even see the Police (who are in regular attendance apparently). The hospital is absolutely massive and a mishmash of old and more modern buildings. Sadly as is with most hospitals it gets quite "samey" and thus here is a small selection of my pictures rather than flood the report with the same shot of a different but identical corridor.
