    Hello All,

I am new to the group, new to urban exploration, and already (unintentionally) committing faux pas ;)

It would be lovely to get to know the community (particularly other females - as I get the impression this is somewhat a male dominated domain - which simply won't do! ;P)

If you haven't figured it out yet - I have a bit of a dry sense of humour, and sarcasm is my friend.

Any tips on how to get started, essential kit (although I see there is a link to that), 'easy' first explorations, along with advice on legality etc, etc, is much welcomed.

I promise I won't bite.... well... not unless you ask very, very, nicely.

    L, x

    A belated welcome @lindseyjane1

As you are now aware from yesterdays post, the idea is to contribute to the Forum (although not everyone does this & there is a large amount just taking info etc for their own ends/egos/Flickr likes etc etc without any direct contribution in return) this is the way of the World unfortunately, but as your first post was about location info for your Art, it sort of got you off on the wrong foot unfortunately.

Everybody will welcome a new member (especially a female one as it"s a Sausage fest TBH ) into the community but some will have issue regarding the perceived reason why you have actually joined 28.

Now if you were to start posting reports, that would obviously change peoples perception of why you"re here. Who knows maybe it will interest you as you progress with your Fetish/Art projects? But be aware these types of requests are commonplace across all the Forums and people who have made sometimes exceptional effort at personal risk in lots of cases will not take kindly to what they see as just another fly by night project ( but they would probably like looking at the pictures :thumb

It"s in your hands as to how it progresses, but good luck ;)

Thank you for the advice - although I don't see art and reports as being mutually exclusive. I had planned to do both whilst visiting, and having an interest in art includes architecture.

Everybody will have their own reason for being interested in exploration - and others may/ may not approve ..but tbh ..should they need to?

As long as people are documenting and making some effort to provide factual information on what they find at the sites - and leave them as much in tact as possible - why should it matter whether my motivation is to see the progression of mould on the windows over a 12 month period? ...to gain an insight into a once forgotten history? ...or to use the aesthetics as a backdrop for some other endeavours?

The only reason people take offence and exception to the motivations of others (regarding the same activity) is to give themselves status, appear socially superior, and to position themselves as 'authoritarian'. Everyone here visiting a site will be taking the same 'risks'

I personally consider all person(s) as equals - whether I agree with their own ideology or not.

I'm glad that the community here is largely accepting - and I look forward to getting to know everyone, and also posting my own reports.

As to whether this changes peoples perceptions of 'why I'm here?' ...kind of irrelevant ..but if there are individuals within the community who are happy to make friends and share experiences of exploration with a variety of others - then I very much look forward to meeting them :D x
