After getting a heads up about drains in my local area, I went on an expedition to Gripper.

This is my first drain and it was incredibly easy to get in. After jumping a fence and navigating my way through foliage, the entrance to the drain takes you below a bridge underneath a main road.

The main entrance has some graffiti, but as you follow the brick pathway that runs alongside the water, the light fades and the graffiti stops.

The main tunnel is relatively short but impressive nonetheless. The brickwork inside creates some lovely textures, and apart from odd flow of water from pipes in the wall it is relatively clean. Once you get to the end there is metal fencing that I couldn't see a way through.

The Gripper is a great tunnel for beginners as you don’t need much more than a camera and a light!

All you need to do now is follow it downstream, some fine examples of drain/sewer along the way ;)
