Since being bought in 1989 by an American businessman for the (now) small sum of £750,000, Gwrych Castle has sat rotting away in Northern Wales. It's so sad that vandals have reduced it to its current state, but there is still beauty to be found in its walls. Visible from the A55, we spotted it on a recent holiday to Snowdonia and I knew I HAD to see it.

Great Photos Nicky, you have captured the castle nicely. I think this place is Ace but if I remember rightly there was over zealous secca here and rumours of Black magic ceremonies and stuff that put folk off visiting...who wants to end up being sacrificed on their hols :D.

Brings back memories of a visit in 1962 with the wife, when the place was open to visitors. Duke of Earl by Gene Chandler on the café juke box!
