Located at the base of an 18th / 19th century sandstone quarry 750m SSW of the sumit of great hambledon hill

    OS NGR : SD 7914 2821

Local rumour asserts that it was an illegal gambling den - any evidence is now burried under tons of rubble

Very little history online , and I don’t trust the veracity of much of it .

It is clearly a quarry working , not a cave and now dangerously unstable , so I didn’t get very far – as the ways on are all buried under multiple collapses , with more sections of the roof faulted and delaminating – and just waiting to drop

The fact that the quarry was being operated to extract dimension stone and flags during 2008 / 2009 hasn’t helped its stability , Though now there is no sign of operations

Entrance passage – now at the rop of a very loose tip

The roof collapses in the right hand branch

Spreading Vertical fault – be afraid , be very afraid – it will drop here next

More teetering doom , supported only by friction

    That’s all – only 25m now explorable
