Decided to put up these awful iphone photos' from mine and Normicas' time at the former Heathrow Gate Hotel in Hayes, mainly so anyone who wants to get some proper pics from the roof can identify it easily. Access was easy, PM me for details, if its still there as all the metal had gone but demolition seemed slow. There was an excavator on the ground floor but pitch black so no picture.

Looks a decent location, definately needs more than an I-phone to do it justice ;)

Good effort, I have moved it to the leads and rumours so as you say, hopefully someone may get some decent shots of it.

These phones can get better photos than those with the standard camera app, have a look on the App Store for Camera+ and Pro Camera. Pro Camera does offer a very good range of manual options for focus etc. I use these myself and get superb results on my previous phone an iPhone 4 as well as the new iPhone 5s. These apps are well worth investing in as I've had results where you can't tell an iPhone took the photos and the photo sizes are far better sometimes 6-7mb with far better focus etc. than the normal apple app.

I do recommend these, I use them all the time personally and been very impressed with the results even in the dark, pro camera does have a very good night mode, which brings out very good results and it might be a solution to some of these problems.

Also, a good tip, give the camera a couple of minutes to focus as it can help the quality of photos also, do tap the area you want to photograph as you can do a focus on a certain area, and it again works well and this is from my own experiences and I hope helps you.

Thanks very much mate, I've considered camera apps before but there's so many it's crazy, although I'll definitely check those out, the last couple of times I've been out I've been woefully underprepared, but some of them were spontaneous.
I usually just use my point and shoot and am new to photography and exploring, I'm considering getting an slr at some point but need more know-how and time really.

Nice to see this one. I grew up in Southall (and lots of my family still live in Southall, Hayes and Northolt) This building used to be the Hayes Gatehouse before becoming a hotel.
You say it's being demolished? A real shame. Just like the Southall Gasometer, the Hayes Gatehouse always stands out for quite a distance.
