Hello mate, Somerset here. Welcome to 28 :thumb
If you managed to find shell case alley, then you were no more than 200 yards from an entrance to Browns Folly quarry which was once a part of Monkton Farleigh Quarry.
Browns is still accessible, use the search bar to check out some reports.
Give me a shout if I can help in any way.

So are you in Cornwall or traveled from Cornwall ? If in Cornwall - ROC St Agnes and Penryn easy explore both fairly well preserved. Have a look at Cligga Head mine - walk in old tin mine.
