Long time lurker, first time poster etc...

After years of reading this forum and wanting to get out and do some actual exploring, I only just managed it the other day due to finding out that another member of my band was up for it - we did Siemens Lighting in Witton, Birmingham, after a failed attempt at the GKN site...Siemens was a walk in the park by comparison, although there was little of interest there bar a large heater type thing that looked like it was straight out of one of the Fallout games - might post a few pics at some point.

Registering here in the hopes of finding some info regarding the area surrounding GKN (I'm determined to get in without breaking anything :p )

I'll save that for another post though.

If anyone can recommend any other [still accessible] sites with tunnels in and around Birmingham that would be great :) Not asking for access details, just stuff to research.

    Thanks

Would be interested in seeing photos of seimens.

As for Gkn I assume you mean Smethwick Gkn? If you walk down Cranford Street there's no way you won't see the way on site. It's wide open

Maybe go see if the Longbridge tunnels are still open if you like that sort of thing. Accessible from the old Cofton/south works site if they haven't bricked them up again..

That's just me berating the city I live in (Birmingham) :p

Yeah Smethwick GKN. Drove down Cranford street a few times, everything was locked down. Maybe because it was Sunday evening? I know where the main entrance is on the south side of Cranford St...presumably if that's open it's only open during working hours?

Judging from reports on here, Longbridge tunnels aren't accessible any more...unless you've been there recently and things have changed?

Never ever trust info online :p

You need to look at Gkn again. I drove passed literally last night and there's multiple windows smashed not to mention the original way into the yard that's always been there. If all else fails climb the gate.

    Hello and welcome.

Nonsense. We drove past it literally last night and it had more holes in it than a sieve. Even a paraplegic blind child would be hard pushed to fail here!

Yeah saw the windows, but the road looked fairly busy at the time so didn't want random motorists informing the fuzz of two dudes crawling through a window... Same goes for the gates. Might go back there at a different time of day and have a proper walk around rather than just driving.

I know there is still access to two Longbridge tunnels.
One has a steep walk down to which you're met with oily mud that eventually comes up to the ceiling. Not worth your time.

However if you know the area well, cofton park, the new builds, near the bridge that the train goes under.
    Its gated but accessible.

A good hours exploring in there with a ladder that takes you to the car park near PRG lighting. Epic climb!
