Been lurking for quite a while now but I finally decided to join as it's a great way to get in touch with other explorers and I like the relaxed atmosphere on here compared to Dutch forums.

I have been exploring for as long as I can remember, first just being a kid getting in all sorts of trouble, later on I discovered there's actually a name for it and other people doing it. I have to say my focus is still on the climbing and adventure side of things, rather than taking pretty pictures. I can certainly appreciate good photography but I just don't have the patience for it.

As for locations I have a strong preference for industrial stuff, especially old steel factories. Living in the Netherlands this means lots of visits to the Ruhrgebiet and Wallony. I like to think I know the Liege area pretty well as I go there almost every weekend, both for UE stuff and mountainbiking/hiking/camping/general tomfoolery. I have yet to find a place that better combines all my interests - big bad industrial city at the foot of the Ardennes, meaning some of the best mountainbike trails I have ever ridden. This spring I spotted the biggest deer I have ever seen (zoo included) maybe ten minutes from the city centre and just across the tracks from HF-B, which is pretty unique if you ask me..

This might sound a bit pretentious but UE to me is much broader than just climbing abandoned buildings; some days I like to just wander around old cities, visiting the marketplace, trying foreign food, meeting people from other walks of life etc etc.

On a personal level, I'm doing a master in international law right now at uni, planning to graduate halfway next year. I'm really into electronic music, anything from deep house to techno, as long as it's a bit complex and moody (think Kruder & Dorfmeister, Komonazmuk, South London Ordnance, Theo Parrish just to name a few).

Can't think of much more to say really, I already feel like a knobhead writing such a novel about myself..
