Hi. I've just joined up after lurking for a while now. I haven't finished reading up on how to write a report (or more specifically, how to post pictures) yet, but have quite a few for when I figure that out. I'm female, based in Wiltshire near Chippenham, and have done almost all of my exploring by myself as I don't know anyone else that likes hanging out in mouldy old buildings (or driving for an hour just to fail to gain access!). I'm certainly not thin or even remotely flexible so entry is rarely elegant but I'm getting better. A lot of the places I've managed to find have sadly been completely trashed by eedjits so I'd LOVE the opportunity to see some more intact places if anyone would be interested in having me tag along. I'm not that interested in the idea of mines/underground stuff/ROCs but having said that I've never done any so I'm happy to try some.

    Successful explores include:
Merther Church, Spirit of The West, Ponsmere Hotel, Headlands Hotel (Cornwall)
    Torrington Dairy Crest Creamery (Devon)
Dunalastair House, an abandoned farm (Scotland)
RAF Yatesbury, Colin's Barn aka Hobbit House, Crookham Court, Dannah House Care Home, South Marston Airfield/Crown Timber (Wiltshire and Berkshire)
The Rest Bay Convalescence Hotel, Ferodo Factory, St David's Hotel (Wales)

Less successful explores (i.e external only) include:
Tottenham Court House (Wilts), Plas Ty Coch, Plas Brereton, Ysgol Coed Menai, Plas Y Coed (Wales)
Lee Bay Hotel (Devon), Fistral Bay Hotel (Cornwall). A couple of these had an access point but I felt it unwise to tackle them alone in case I couldn't get back out!

Thanks UrbexCamo, let me know if you have any adventures planned. Would love to tag along. Likewise, have a possible explore near Swindon to check out/recce - if I can get in, I'll let you know!

Lavino - lots of pics (I get a bit trigger happy :D ). Still learning how to take a half decent pic in low light so some are more successful than others

How was Tottenham last time you went. We have tried multiple times a long old drive and been caught every time...

Had a decent mooch around the cottage and stable block but couldn't get near the house without being spotted. I did have quite a chat with one gurkha on his bicycle, lovely friendly guy but he was adamant that I couldn't go in as it 'wasn't safe'. Unfortunately it looked like they were in the process of erecting a large wood perimeter fence (and clearing everything at the back so much harder to sneak)

Hello there, live near to Chippenham myself.

Here's something for you, as Chippenham seems to be one of those towns I never go to, the building that's inside the big roundabout on the A4 in the centre of town seems to be unused. Have know idea what it is or was.

Ahh just done a bit of research... it's called the Bridge Centre and they are wanting to turn it into shops. Not sure how that's going to work for shoppers, there's no way of getting to it apart from dashing across the busy A4. If you go, watch out for the grumpy lady that lives behind the wall

Anyways I'm doing a road trip across the county in about a week and a half with others. Send a PM if interested in joining. How's RAF Yatesbury these days? Has the housing development restarted? Finally well done for doing the Hobbit's House on your own.. the farmer there is not a nice man at all and I know that from experience!

We got "escorted" off by two armed farmers when we went to the hobbit house..

How long ago you went to spirit of the west? I've read they were building a resort there but someone else said they built around it. I'd love to check it out there but I don't wanna rock up to see that it's no longer there

    Hi,

I'm in Swindon and would love to tag along with anyone, I am a complete newbie, but really want to get started I don't know anyone else who would want to explore with me, even the husbands not interested!

I'd love to meet some like minded people and go on some adventures together :-))

@Grottie1 PM me, I'm doing a Wiltshire road-trip next week with other newbies and the more the merrier. It's all sites I have been to before, so confidentially I say we will get into the places.

Hi. Apologies for the delay in reply, haven't been online for a while. It was Oct 2013. The resort was built long ago and has been up and running several years, but I believe they have/had plans to extend so I don't know if that's gone ahead. The SoTW was off to the side/ in the undergrowth around the lakes. Sorry I can't be any more helpful - although I think I saw a fairly recent report on here?

Far as I know, RAF Yatesbury is just the same. It was last time I visited anyways (last year). Neighbours are a bit snippy - met some obnoxious child who informed me I wasn't 'allowed to look at it or take any pictures'. This was when I was waaaaay down the end of the drive. I'd have needed a telescopic sight to even see anything from there! Obviously I ignored said brat and used my usual way in.

I'll send you a PM, thank you

@21361 and @Grottie1 and the others who have PM'ed me in the last few days - good to see all these North Wilts people revealing themselves. We need eyes on the ground in Swindon - the place is hugely under-reported and there must be new and interesting places.
