H.M. Stanley Hospital was an acute hospital established as a workhouse in 1838 and become a hospital with the formation of the NHS in 1948. The hospital closed in April 2012 after being deemed unfit for purpose. It was rumoured that the hospital would require £2.5 million for refurbishment to restore it to its former glory but this later fell apart and approval has since gone ahead for housing development to convert the site to 85 homes.

The stroke and eye units at the hospital have been be moved to other areas but a small section of the site remains home to the Welsh Ambulance service.

Unfortunately the building is pretty much an empty shell now :(

It looks like a completely different place! Sadly, because of redevelopment work being carried out, its completely gutted and nothing more than an empty shell nowadays. We only found one item of interest outside of the chapel (which still had items inside)
