    Hi to all the Urbexers.

We’re new here so we thought we’d introduce ourselves. We are L.A.C.E. and we enjoy exploring and documenting the unusual and unique, man made and natural, structures and locations, mainly in Dorset and the surrounding counties. The thing is, we like to explore with a twist, we mostly go when and where it’s darkest as we are Light Painting Photographers and capture images using our home-made light tools. Most of our work is straight out of the camera with little or no adjustment (defo no Photoshop).

It’s taken us a while to get the following collection of photos together (we started Oct 2012) as we wanted to show a few together so you can get a view of this amazing site in a way you probably haven’t ever seen before. We know this site has been posted many times before but we think you’ll enjoy it. The History has been well documented and can easily be read on previous posts, it’s a significant and vast site and there are still plenty of structures in all different states of dereliction (we’ve nearly mapped them all). We still continue to visit, but are now going to focus on the Picrite Factory on the other side of the site.

Thanks to those who know who they are, for giving us a few (but not too many) pointers.

Our 1st explore was to the Climate Labs. This must be many Urbexers starting point at this particular site as from the outside the fence the buildings can be easily seen. Access was our 1st puzzle.

The Climatic Labs were used for testing the stability of the the Cordite in various climate conditions, ie humidity.. As far as we're understood the main LABs (used for the "Quality Assurance") are found opposite in the main compound.

The chemical store has an eerie feel in the pitch black, does anyone have a match?

The rear fire exit leads off to a few office style rooms and a couple of test labs. Love the peeling paint.

In the main lab, the vandals and junkies have been frequenting this place for a while, a few discarded needles and lots of broken glass.

The white ceramic tiles were the best way of having cleanable surfaces, this meant that the volatile chemicals used could be washed away.

Looking back at the stairs that lead to a mezzanine level that we can only think may have been used to observe workers.

    And up the stairs.

Finally, on our way out, we stumbled upon the old fire bell. we think it would have been every workers worst nightmare to have heard this go off.

Back soon with the main Cordite production site.
