some history (mainly sourced off internet):
Grade ii listed horncliffe house is a Victorian mansion which was formerly used as a wedding venue, restaurant and nursing home. The 11-bedroom venue was originally built as a private home for local mill owner and businessman Henry Hoyle Hardman in 1869.

    the visit:
went trekking over with the intention to show a pal of mine the jaguars at the rear but as we arrived the weather took a turn for the worst so i wasn't willing to get my camera out. heading our way back to the car i was determined to have a look inside the house. it did Not take long to figure out how. once we was in, it then became obvious that we came in through the hard way !! the building itself isn't as stable than i imagined but still has a glimpse of character! After taking a few photos we established we wasn't alone by a noise coming from the attic which was not worth waiting round for. visited with none 28dl member.

There is deffo some stuff set up here. Have spotted a few cams hidden about and a very nice security spot light at front at night. But inside looks interesting. I'm not taking risk however been a good few times day and night even into house at back. But not worth the hassle if police do turn up.

I'd be suprised if there were 5 police cars in the whole of Rossendale
As Ojay said, this place has been left to rot the only thing worth saving were the Jags out back, decent shots nonetheless.

it is a shame about how rotten the place is, the jaguars round the back have been smashed up aswell and rotten due to weatheri so they arent worth saving either. i dont know who it was in the attic but they made it clear that we wasn't welcome. if the security has tightened up ont he place then i wouldnt bother wasting your time and effort for a visit.

The story goes that the guy who bought it from the woman who used to run it as a hotel/restaraunt/wedding venue wanted to take up the sprung floor in the bar area to put a swimming pool in and couldn't get permission so just left it to rot. Shame as i used to go there every few weeks and it was a cracking building.
