    HOUSE OF THE DAMNED

We had seen a couple of reports on here about an abandoned 'Time Capsule' somewhere in Belper and just had to go. The only info we had on it was that it was somewhere just outside of Belper in a valley so Google Maps and wandering around was all we could rely on. After about a week or so of scanning Google Maps (not continuously) we found it!

There is no road access and you have to walk through a couple of sheep fields (or supposedly cows) to get to it but its not too far of a walk. The outhouses still seem to be partially in use by the farmer so we didn't venture into those.

It was well worth the time looking for it as when we got inside we were greeted with a house still pretty full of the previous residents belongings. Sofas, clothes, medicine and food stuffs were among a lot of other things to find in this little cottage.

I've kept with the name House of the Damned as that's what the other reports called it. Supposedly there is an article in a magazine in the house about the punk band The Damned but we couldn't find it. There was however a lot of things dated 1979 for example, we found a diary for that year and a jar of coffee that went out of date in that year too!

The house seemed structurally sound - we didn't have to watch our footing on broken floor boards and collapsed ceilings however, there were a couple of holes in the roof into the attic but I'm not sure if they were made to have a look inside the attic or not.

    On with the pictures ...

A view of what you see as you walk through the fields.

This is what you are greeted with when you get into the living room

A better view of what the whole of the living room looks like

All sorts of bottles displayed on the table - I presume someone laid them out that way for a picture ...

I don't have a clue as to what this is ...

I believe that they were some sort of farmer as they have animal medicine??

Diary dating back to 1979 - I couldn't find any writing in it though so maybe it never got a chance to be used?

    Window shot.

I didn't get many pictures of the upstairs as there wasn't really much up there apart from the tv/chair combo and a manky mattress. The kitchen area was inaccessible as there was barbed wire and other rubbish thrown in there, presumably by the farmer who uses the out houses. There was no bathroom or running water from what I could see so not sure what the deal there was. Maybe an out house acted as a bathroom/washroom?

    Thanks for reading!

This place must have a name, or at least something decently descriptive?

I'm not sure what you mean by code name?
I'm not sure why there are flickr links either. Is there a way to stop that from happening? This is only my second post so I'm still learning :)

Oh right sorry - I don't know it's real name unfortunately- I only called it house of the damned as the other reports I've seen have all called it that. If I had a proper name I would have used it.
