Slightly inaccurate description from the Watkin Jones website:

Back at the last Sheffield meet there was a bit of chatter about this crane so me, ***********, tablets and jazzywheelz piled into a car and had a look. For one reason or another we didn't go through with it although *********** did return with Marsden1002 later in the night for a crack.

Fast forward a good few weeks (months, more like) and me, tablets and jazzywheelz we once again looking up at the big yellow structure and squealing like schoolgirls at the thought of getting up top (maybe that was just me). Access sussed, we started our ascent, only to bottle it upon realising how lit up and exposed we'd be. After fannying around inside the building for a while the wind had picked up (and the CBA had set in I suspect) and we called it a night. But at least we knew what time the floods were switched off.

So finally, I was there again, with just jazzywheelz in tow this time round. We knew where we were going, what we needed to do, it was going to be a piece of piss. Until those frigging students decided to have a party right on our access point.
It was almost a lost cause until they finally cleared off, presumably up West Street, at some stupid late hour. We didn't hang around, and got up there as fast as we could.
Now, I get on with heights okay, rooftops etc don't bother me, but cranes/scaff are another matter... Think it's the fact they just don't feel as "safe". This was only my second crane climb, but I think I coped reasonably well. And once at the top it didn't bother me at all (climb back down was a nightmare though!).
Really not happy at all with my shots, was having one of those spaz nights again, but I'm just happy to get this one done finally.

Now to get to work on some more cranes on the Sheffield skyline...

As Kaplan already mentioned, it took us way longer than it should have to actually get this one done. To be honest I'm kind of glad we waited though. Conditions were perfect that night and it was nice and chilled once we were up there. My only regret was being too lazy to lug my camera up the rear mast with me, so no shots from up there.

Props to Kaplan for originally suggesting this one all those months back :thumb

Not a chance, pal. Fuck knows where I was setting my focus that night.
