Although i recently said i wouldn"t bother driving a long way to see this...as i"m incapacitated ATM and it"s local i decided to call in and see how the wrecking has gone on since i was last here.

This is a well trodden House, by every Urbexer & their Dog. And more recently by Classic car Collectors going by the amount of engine parts etc that have been removed off the Humber & both Marcos"s !

The history, back in 1991 where a certain Dr could not detain a patient for a substantial time under the Mental health Act, who had threatened that she would kill someone. Even though she had attacked someone previously. She was released and a few days later she actually stabbed and killed a young girl of 11, in a Doncaster shopping centre. The fallout that followed forced the Dr from the house never to return, leaving lots of possessions including Classic cars to rot away subjected to the elements and people.

A link to the case is here, pinched from Scot Hutchesons post :)

Psychiatric Killings (Doncaster) (Hansard, 9 March 1994)

As we know the House is more Disney than Classic build, some of it dating from the 60"s the concrete Castle-esc features added later in it"s life along with the swimming pool. It is positioned on a busy road that"s always been a notorious accident blackspot. And thing"s have never changed with vehicles regularly crashing into the garden. One such recent accident actually revealed a car which had been totally covered up in undergrowth, only visible as the vehicle ended up on top of it.

Personally i think it"s way past saving now, links to the Barn behind have been mentioned before but as i"ve never met the neighbours i can"t comment :)

It was quite a fun start to the visit with the Council Workmen outside barracking me, who were supposed to be replacing the warning signs for the Traffic island that"s been wrecked yet again...but didn"t :)

It"s hard not to duplicate pics as rooms are limited and interesting objects etc have gone, so here goes ;) Hope you like

Nice shots there dude although what a shame the place is in such a state now. Still at least the artwork by the swimming pool has survived!

The house now acts as protection for the developed Barn behind it, from all the crashing vehicles :)

Yeah it"s the room on the left as you go up the stairs....well Flagstones :)

Used to be all glass display units and book shelves, for car magazines etc looking at the amount scattered around the room :)

Is that " new " car a metro or something? Even I'm having difficulty on that one.

Nice shots mate , although I think it could be saved , if someone did a glass moderny thing linked with the original fabric , although by the looks of it it would have to be done fairly soon.

    Once again , a nice report :-D

    Re: Ivy farm manor, hampole

    Cheers :)

I did look last time when it had just had the wreckage removed from the top of it lol, but i"ve forgotten. but It looks like a old Lada Samara (i think it was called) well that shape anyway, i"ll have a look next time i go past.

As for the house, it"s weird. Inside you feel like you"re inside an old barn, but with manor house window frames. The walls are made of really old stone with added bricks and home made concrete fittings, the supports down stairs have been made on site and if you look on the top there is still the home made concrete formers made out of 45 gallon barrels on one of them. I"ve never been up on the roof but it"s got more concrete ornaments than a garden centre. :)

Always used to look at this place when going to Doncaster for Donkey"s years. But there"s not been much too see for years except one end and roof designs due to it being secluded behind large conifers ( even the Google Earth view has it obscured ) which it"ll have needed for the amount of road noise, and added protection for all the crashes.

When i say accident blackspot, i"m never driven past there without seeing new remains of vehicles / security fencing and destroyed warning signs etc on the Traffic Island outside, which is one of 3 installed on that section to slow traffic down between the corners in both direction. all it does is make any fast speeding vehicle crash into the island now instead of potentially getting away with crossing over the centre line of the road......and hitting someone else.

Just thought i"d mention it lol

    Re: Ivy farm manor, hampole

Ah right , thanks for the replys on the car both of you. ( I might have to side with A-R on this one though bug. :p)

As for the house , that's really odd , it looks enough like a dodgy manor house , but its essentially been cobbled together ? That's really odd that is. Bet whoever owned it was pissed when they built the road.

    Thanks for the replys

    Re: Ivy farm manor, hampole

Sorry , should of mentioned this is my last post - could it possibly of actually been a barn ( as you say ir feels like one ) with windows added in later ? Because none of the windows appear to fit the height of the floor properly heights and from what you've seen all the twirling bits have been added later. Also its not really the most pleasing of manors is it ? Thoughts ?
