On 30th March 1991, Carol Barratt approached a young woman with a knife; she was subsequently arrested and later admitted to the psychiatric unit at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Nonetheless, on 14th April 1991, Barratt was released, by Dr Neil Sylvester, and as a result on 16th April 1991 she was able to stab a young girl to death with a carving knife in Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster. In later years Dr Sylvester was, apparently, driven from his home at Ivy Farm Manor – although the evidence to directly support this is almost non-existent. As part of the justification for Dr Sylvester’s actions, it was indicated that the doctor was chosen to work on keeping in-patient admissions to a minimum; accepting no more than 40 per year. Evidence of the presence of a Sylvester family still remain throughout the building, in various documents, certificates and possible school work of a daughter. Although the gothic-style house is Grade II listed, as is well know, the building is not a real castle, rather, it has been renovated and the original building encased in stone. To this day, it still remains a mystery as to why so many vintage cars, magazines, books and personal items have been left behind.

After a long morning’s journey, we finally reached the abandoned manor house at around midday. Access was incredibly easy, and once inside we set out to explore everything the building has to offer. It’s a shame that much of the inside has been removed and many of the vintage items are slowly disappearing. This building, however, is still home to some interesting bits and pieces; namely, the swimming pool, the numerous cars scattered throughout the site, and the interesting balconies that can still be accessed. We also bumped into another keen photographer whilst visiting the site and had a decent chat, theorising why the building can be found in such a state today.

Nice shots mate but its a Marcos not a TVR. It seems to have vanished more and more with every thread.

Thought it might be. There are a few old TVR's that look similar. Couldn't really tell any more - the back is the only semi-intact bit :(

Got out and about, again :) I don't think much tidying has gone on here in a long time! The roof is pretty awesome - it was in much better condition that I thought.

We didn't fancy the roof, wasn't 100% sure it'd support my big bum :D
