    History (from Wikipedia)

The Kingsway Tramway Subway is a cut and cover Grade II listed tunnel in Holborn, built by the London City Council, and the only one of its kind in Britain. The decision in 1898 to clear slum districts in the Holborn area provided an opportunity to use the new streets for a tramway connecting the lines in the north and south. Following the pattern of tramways in New York (the Murray Hill Tunnel) and Boston (the MBTA Green Line), it was decided to build this as an underground connection.

    Our Visit

@PatientTheory and I headed down there a bit ago and were surprised by how extensive the tunnels were. We messed around for a couple of hours and explored the little network.

Didn't bring a tripod so I got screwed over in the dark areas, but @PatientTheory got some mad shots.

Just gonna dump some of my shot here:

Really nice place for blacklighting shots :) This part of the tunnel (picture below) is where Strand Underpass slopes. This is evident due to the roof getting lower towards the back. At the back, you'll be able to see a discrete hole you can crawl into, taking you into a side tunnel around the width of your shoulders. Thats where the Aldwych Tram station lies, with only a thin strip of platform left, the track area lost to the Strand Underpass. Didn't get an shot in there though.

Talking a shot from Holborn Tram Station, looking towards Aldwych.

Thought these posters were legitimate as first, but were just movie sets :(
