The quarry of the Lime Kiln is one of the largest quarries in the Parisian region. With a 100ha area, it is the result of an assembly of four different networks. After the end of the working, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the quarry has been converted for mushrooms cultivation.
Today, an area is still used for the cultivation of mushrooms, and this area is inaccessible from the rest of the quarry.

    Let's have a look.

Four arches, probably one of the more recent parts of the quarry

A crusher: its was used to make limestone powder, for the mushroom rounds.

    Another crusher

An old gate and the main gallery

    A 40cm gauge small truck

The "Kleptomane's Tavern", with a 60cm gauge flat small truck

Arches built in 1905 in a gallery

    The big square shaft

    A beautiful crossroads of galleries.

    Thanks for looking.
