My first report for quite some time.

The weather was bad just before Christmas, so we sacked off climbing in favour of a walk and scramble around the slate mines.

Its a real adventure playground up there. I can tell you. I've been a few times before, but this was my first kind of serious explore up there.

BenCooper's excellent report from Aug08 gives a lot of historyhttp://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=32699&highlight=llanberis

My main interest here was to scope out a future adventure trip, there is a lot of potential for that.

We walked through a few tunnels that end abruptly in the middle of a cliff faces to the quarries

    Exciting routes down:

In situ fixed ladders from the 1920's - I tested them their sound! (look carefully across the pit in the pic above)

There are quarried sections that are totally enclosed only accessable by the ladders followed by a tunnel or an epic abseil.

Also want to get into here:

will need to climb the chain

didn't fancy it solo with no ropes....watch this space.
