    History:

The premises, constructed in 1930 by Leicester architect Clement Ogden in vernacular-style to the surrounding Queen Ann buildings, was last used as a Coral bookmakers shop before it relocated to the bottom of Castle Street.

The 3,175sq ft property retains its original bank vaults in the basement and also features offices, a kitchen and stores on the first floor. Lloyds shut down the branch around 1998 when it merged with TSB.

Plans to transform the iconic former Lloyds Bank in Hinckley into a new watering hole have been given the green light.Work will start to renovate the interior of Lloyds to create an open plan bar on the ground floor with kitchen and storage space at the rear.

The basement will be used for lavatories serving the bar while the first floor will be turned into three mezzanine apartments. The property was sold at auction for £150,000 in February 2015 after being vacant and on the market for a considerable period but is now back on the market again.

I was up in the attic where I found them for hours reading them. The folders were a hard archive of most admin paperwork dating right back to the 1960's and included boxes of archived cheque's too!
Found this place by accident but turned out to be a great explore. I'd advise anyone in the area to come explore while you can as I assure you the gaping access point will soon be sealed.

There was a direct entry from the main streets, you couldn't miss it. It's been sealed now.

Hello Matt, I'm a reporter from the Hinckley Times.

New owners control the site now and they have submitted new plans for a restaurant and bar.

Do you mind if we used your photographs please?

If this is ok, do you think you could email me on robbie.gordon@trinitymirror.com please?

    Many thanks,

    Robbie
