    Hey everyone,
please bear with my this is my first post and the chances of my screwing it up are high!

I was in Scotland in September and stumbled across this place known as 'The lost village' I got the impression that if you didn't know it was there, you would never find it...sounds like a Danny Boyle film.
I don't know what security is like during the week, but I was there on a Saturday afternoon and there wasn't a soul around apart from a blackberry picker - who just wished me luck. Slightly unnerving. Access is easy as there is are a few holes in the fences.

I couldn't find much about the place online but this should help:
Portavadie is small settlement on the western side of the Cowal peninsula, and lies on the eastern shore of Loch Fyne. Once a small fishing village, it came to be a popular holiday destination for many visitors from Hamilton, Motherwell and Glasgow. Road access from the east is along a single track road which leads from the B8000 road connecting Tighnabruaich and Kilfinan. A ferry terminal with slipway provides access for the Cowal and Kintyre ferry which connects with Tarbert on the Kintyre peninsula to the west.

The area became more widely known during the 1970s, when it was chosen as one of the sites where concrete oil platforms were to be constructed, but was abandoned when this plan collapsed.

The derelict modern village of Polphail lies nearby, built to accommodate workers of the planned construction yard, but the yard was never completed, and the village was never occupied.

The Village was incredible, they literally did just down tools and leave everything, at one stage I was in a pitch black room which I assume was the mess room standing on the bones of foxes and sheep and whatever else with bats above me I took a photo and the flash highlighted "think on your sins" on the wall...needless to say I behaved like a girl and ran for it. After a pep talk to myself I went back and finished my exploring. Note to self:- next time go with someone.

Anyway hope you like it, and if you need anymore information or help. I'll do what I can
