Report - Manicomo di R, Italy - June 2015

    This is Manicomo di R, a bit of a stalwart of Italian abandonments. A former asylum right in the middle of a town. It is somewhat protected by its own context and therefore hasn't really suffered vandalism or theft. Closed in 1981.

    Spent hours here just wandering. Everything was so green, the whole building was filled with scents of the flowers on the trees in the courtyards and the loud humming of bees making their way around them.

    I've been saying for ages now that Italy is really overlooked. It's also not a bad part of the world to spend a bit of time in..
